We went into the dimly lit place where the ships food was prepared, two long bench type tables lined both sides of the room, in the center of the room was a large wood burning stove. There where cabinets and storage spaces at the rear of the room. Cleaning and food preparation was also performed in this space at the rear. I began to look at the storage spaces first, sugar, spices, salt and flour where packed in barrels for the immediate use by the cook and his helper. I looked also at the salted meats which where stored in boxes. I looked at the smaller bins of spices and pepper. I found also a barrel of dark flower, rye from what I could tell, but it smelled of mold and was taking on a musty odor...

Then he turned and limped as he ran and jumped into his car and squealed his tires as he raced off.
I did not touch Darla, I went into the house and called 911, I wanted to get the paramedics here as soon as possible, then I went back to Darla.
